A handcrafted small molcajete, made from basalt, perfect for small grinding tasks like herbs, spices, and chiles.

You'll want this little molcajete because it's so cute but we bet it will be one of the handiest items in your kitchen. It grinds herbs like our Oregano Indio and Canela, along with salt, peppercorns, or just about anything else. 

Made from volcanic rock from the active volcano, Popocatépetl in Ozolco, Puebla.

Capacity: holds about 1/4 cup

Please note: These items are handmade, and there will be variances. That's part of their charm. Grind salt or rice in them before their first use. This will loosen any imperfections and loose dust. Discard and repeat until rice or salt is clear. 

This is the model with legs. We also have a small molcajete without legs. Both come with a matching tejolote (like a pestle) for grinding.
